China and a Carbon Tax

Gwynne Dyer writes that the Chinese government is to impose a carbon tax.   This has to be very good news indeed: it will put  pressure on every  government that has avoided action using the excuse that China has not moved seriously on the question.  It is a matter of survival for the Chinese as it is for all of us.  In the Chinese context it is possible, even probable, that with a 2 degree rise in global temperature they will lose 38% of their food crops.  Chinese leaders are, in Dyer’s words, “terrified”.  In the meantime  the Harper government continues to play the blind fool, dragging all of us along with him.
