{"id":256,"date":"2011-12-08T12:24:34","date_gmt":"2011-12-08T17:24:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cstuart.ca\/?p=256"},"modified":"2011-12-08T12:41:35","modified_gmt":"2011-12-08T17:41:35","slug":"deoccupy-many-demands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cstuart.ca\/?p=256","title":{"rendered":"(de)Occupy &#8211; many demands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>About a month ago when all the demands were being made by the media to know the &#8220;demands&#8221; of the\u00a0 Occupy Movement I wrote these which are really my own demands.\u00a0\u00a0 I still think they may be quite good apart from one rather glaring omission which I will add now by saying that we should cease the production and trade in all weapons of war.\u00a0 The defense industry is a death industry.<\/p>\n<p>Here it is:<\/p>\n<p>For all those living in the northern half of Turtle island who still don&#8217;t get the OWS movement and want &#8220;demands&#8221;\u00a0 -think about these more as affirmations:<\/p>\n<p>Honour Mother Earth, and the principles of responsibility, sharing, diversity and resilience in all decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Water and air cannot be &#8220;owned&#8221;.\u00a0 They are universal and inalienable and we are responsible to see that they are kept freely accessible for the use of all creatures.<\/p>\n<p>Land, the ground below it and the creatures dependent on it cannot be owned;\u00a0 they can only be cared for and should only be altered or used if they can be renewed for use by future generations.\u00a0 All of us are responsible for the land, but those designated democratically by the community with a specific calling to harvest from the land for the good of the community and for the world&#8217;s sustenance, and for future generations should be especially respected, as should elders with such experience.<\/p>\n<p>Recognize all First Nations as Nations and work with them to abolish the Indian Act, recognizing that this will be an act of decolonizing.<\/p>\n<p>Support Canadian farmers who care for and renew the land.
